Johor Menteri Besar Dato’ Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the stateβs economic resilience is reflected in its highest revenue collection in Johorβs history, amounting to RM2.676 billion (US$847 million) for the year 2025.
βIn line with the growth of investment and the state economy, Johorβs financial management has continued to demonstrate strong performance. For 2025, the state of Johor recorded its highest revenue collection in history, totalling RM2.676 billion.
βThis state revenue is returned to the people through the implementation of various welfare-focused initiatives, in particular the Johor Compassion Assistance (Bantuan Kasih Johor, BKJ), which comprises 23 initiatives and benefits hundreds of thousands of recipients.
βThese include orphans, students, B40 (low-income) families, senior citizens, single mothers and vulnerable groups. This is the principle consistently upheld by the Johor Government that state revenue must be returned to the people,β he said in a statement on 31 December.
Dato’ Onn Hafiz also urged all state government leaders to better understand the needs of the people and to ensure that every effort genuinely helps to ease their burdens and improve the quality of life of all Johoreans.
Meanwhile, Johorβs Chairman of the Investment, Trade, Consumer Affairs and Human Resources Committee, Yang Berhormat Tuan Lee Ting Han, when contacted by Berita Harian (BH), said the Johor Governmentβs aspiration heading into 2026 is to translate the current momentum into more sustainable long-term transformation under the Maju Johor agenda.
βThe implementation of the JS-SEZ will be guided by a clear and structured master plan, scheduled for launch in the first quarter of 2026, to accelerate the implementation phase with a focus on catalytic projects, regulatory facilitation and smoother cross-border integration.
βOur goal is to make JS-SEZ not merely an investment destination, but a platform that brings together global capital, regional supply chains and local talent to create high-value jobs and long-term economic resilience,β he said.
According to him, in addition to JS-SEZ, Johor will continue to strengthen its position in high-impact strategic sectors already in the pipeline, including data centres and digital infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, logistics and green energy, with an emphasis on energy security, water resilience and talent development.
βThe Johor Governmentβs aspiration is not merely to grow faster, but to grow better.
βJohor aims to be developed as a holistic and future-ready state, for the benefit of Bangsa Johor and investors alike, in line with the Maju Johor 2030 Agenda,β he said.
